Linux System Administrator (m/f/d)

balticfinance is an international service provider for insurance brokers with direct access to the world’s biggest market for specialty insurances – Lloyd’s of London. The IT-landscape needed for our business relies on Open Source-Software to a large extend. We are running most of the servers and services ourselves. For the administration and extension of this infrastructure we are in search of support. In a relaxed atmosphere we offer high self-responsibility as part of a small innovative team. With us, you get to know the interesting parts of the insurance industry.

In our IT team you’ll take care of a wide range of important and diverse tasks. As a fast growing company we are presented with many exciting and challenging projects. The biggest chunk of your time will be spent as follows:

  • setup and administration of our company laptops (Ubuntu Linux)
  • administration of our virtual servers
    • Virtualization platform (Proxmox VE, docker)
    • E-Mail servers (ciphermail, Proxmox Mail Gateway, Kopano)
    • Homepage and intranet (wordpress, owncloud, jira, confluence)
    • further OSS systems (odoo, overleaf, orthanc, BigBlueButton, jitsi meet, samba, freePBX, gitlab, artifactory)
  • administration of our network (VPN, Firewall, WLAN)
  • backups of our servers and laptops

In addition to an open mind and the motivation to further develop an exciting company, the following qualifications are needed for this job:

  • Experience with the administration of Linux servers (Ubuntu/Debian)
  • Experience with the administration of networks (VPN, VLAN, Firewall, DNS)
  • solid English skills, spoken and written, German and Danish are a plus
  • you are aware of your own ignorance and have a constant drive to further develop your skill set (we regularly visit conferences)

If you’ve already tackled some of the following buzzwords, we would be thrilled:

  • cloud computing (i.e. AWS, Google, Azure, Kubernetes)
  • infrastructure automation (for example with ansible, chef or puppet)
  • server monitoring (for example with nagios, icinga or zabbix)
  • performance optimizing SQL databases (i.e. MSSQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • single sign-on (LDAP/AD, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)

Software Developer

balticfinance is an international service provider for insurance brokers with direct access to the world’s biggest market for specialty insurances – Lloyd’s of London. The administration of the insurance policies incl. offers, invoices and cash collection is done by an inhouse-developed web-application, for whose ongoing development we are in search of support. In a relaxed atmosphere we offer high self-responsibility as part of a small innovative team. With us, you get to know the interesting parts of the insurance industry.

In our IT team you’ll take care of a wide range of important and diverse tasks. As a fast growing company we are presented with many exciting and challenging projects. The biggest chunk of your time will be spent as follows:

  • analyse requirements of the business
  • design of the optimal solution in direct communication with the business
  • test driven development of the designed solutions in Java and JavaScript
  • coaching of the users

In addition to an open mind and the motivation to further develop an exciting company, the following qualifications are needed for this job:

  • Degree in or currently studying computer sciences
  • basic knowledge of Java or proficient in another object oriented language
  • experience in handling SQL databases (i.e. MSSQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • experience in Web development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • you are aware of your own ignorance and have a constant drive to further develop your skill set (we regularly visit conferences)

If you’ve already tackled some of the following buzzwords, we would be thrilled:

  • version control with git
  • knowledge how an ORM works, especially Hibernate with Spring Data
  • web development with JQuery, vuejs, SPAs
  • web design (CSS, bootstrap, responsiveness, UX)
  • unit testing, integration testing, test driven development, maybe with JUnit, Mockito and/or Selenium
