Dear scholars,

In cooperation with KAAD (Catholic Academic Exchange Service) we provide you with the appropriate health insurance cover by Hanse-Merkur travelinsurance.

• We designed a group contract for this health insurance that meets the legislative requirements during your stay in Germany as a scholar of KAAD (and already while you are a language student).
• This specific group contract also provides you with insurance cover during a necessary stay in a foreign country or your home country.
   
• For the extent of your insurance cover, please see the attached list of benefits “PROFI“.
   
• You will receive an electronic certificate of insurance that you will need to present at the doctor´s in Germany and possibly beforehand when applying for a visa at the German consulate in your home country.

I. LANGUAGE STUDENTS
Via KAAD you will be entered electronically into our system (balticfinance).
If you are a language student, KAAD will cover the full expenses of your monthly premium (€ 51,-) until the end of your language course. Shortly before the end of your language course, we will send you an e-mail, asking for the data we need to adjust your health insurance.

II. STUDENTS
Please open our homepage www.balticfinance.com .
Choose the German or English site and click the button KAAD.

• Please fill in your first name, family name, date of birth and the date on which the insurance cover begins, the date of your German entry respectively.

Furthermore, we need your bank account details:

1. First name and family name of the account holder
2. Account number
3. Bank code number
4. Name of the bank

If you still have no bank account, send to us these please later by email.

The insurance company “Hanse Merkur“ will then charge this account every month with the monthly premium of 51,-- EURO. KAAD will pay you an extra grant of € 25,- a month along with your scholarship. The first debiting will be made with the start of the insurance and will be transferred by the KAAD. The next debitings take place every month automatically on the same date.

• You will receive an electronic certificate of insurance (if you haven´t already).
   
• When you need to see a doctor, always present this certificate to the doctor personally and clarify in your first appointment whether or not a possibly planned treatment will be completely covered by your insurance.

If there is any doubt, please contact Hanse-Merkur:

• At the end of the treatment the doctor will send you a bill. Please send the original bill IMMEDIATELY to the adress below. State your insurance certificate number (you will find it on your certificate of insurance) and include a note "Bitte direkt mit dem Arzt abrechenen".

• Please keep a copy all doctor´s bills for yourself, while the insurance company will settle up debts with the doctor directly.
   
• Please respond immediately to inquiries from the Hanse-Merkur travel insurance, so there are no delays. Overdue fines can be levied in case of delays on the part of the doctor, then you have to pay it.
   
• If you are unsure about whether or not you are allowed to claim benefits please contact the same address as above.
